Tracey and Jonathen’s wedding

A wedding out of this world

There are two types of people in this world. People who love Star Wars, and everybody else. And the chances are, if you fit into the former category, you would love a Star Wars themed wedding.

Whether you’re a purist who believes that Star Wars begins and ends with the first trilogy, or you live and breathe Baby Yoda, there are plenty of Star Wars possibilities for your big day.

Stage One: The Brief

Through our initial conversations with Tracey she told us that Jonathen is a keen amateur astronomer, and together they are huge fans of Star Wars, because of this Tracey wanted to include a special Star Wars surprise for Jonathen without it dominating the entire day. She wanted to embrace their shared love of Star Wars while still maintaining the beauty and romance of a traditional wedding celebration.

She even joked about Jonathen being such a big fan of Star Wars that he might want to run off and marry Boba Fett over her! Luckily, as you have probably guessed, he didn’t and Tracey and Jonathen got happily married proving that they love each other to the Death Star and back.

Stage Two: The Venue

The ceremony took place at Wigfair Hall, a grand Victorian venue dating back to 1884 with a tree lined drive that leads you to a heraldic entrance which makes for a spectacular welcome. Wigfair Hall also boasts views over the Clwydian range and the idyllic Elwy Valley which made for an ideal location for Tracey and Jonathen’s wedding photoshoot.

Their photographers of choice were Dave and Diana of Golding Photography, and with over 10 years of experience I think it’s safe to say they were in good hands.

Stage Three: Enter the Imperial Army

To really make Jonathen’s surprise impactful, the first time he saw anything even remotely Star Wars on his wedding day was when Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper walked down the aisle directly towards him – to which his guests burst out into a rapturous round of applause.

To the tune of the Imperial March being softly played by a pianist, they walked down the aisle patrolling the area and staring Jonathen down, before making a hasty retreat.

Stage Four: May the love be with you

After the bride and groom exchanged their vows, it was time for some photos!

Utilising Wigfair Hall’s Victorian architecture and carved stone entrances Dave and Diana soon got to work shooting relaxed yet stylish portraits of Tracey and Jonathen  …which is not an easy task with the barrel of a blaster aimed at you.

Stage Five: An immersive experience

Tracey wanted Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper to provide a fun and immersive experience for their guests, to achieve this the pair patrolled the grounds and interacted with guests in a playful manner.

It has to be said that lightsabers are one of the best props for achieving a Star Wars inspired wedding day, and luckily there were more than a few on hand for guests to protect themselves from crossing over to the dark side (not to mention a few min-Jedi’s in the making being there  too!)

Time flew incredibly fast and soon it was time for the guests to bid farewell to the Star Wars characters and head for the all important wedding breakfast.

“Jonathen is a massive Star Wars fan and he had no clue this was my plan, so it was a lovely surprise for him.”
