Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar.
Celebrations coincide with the lunar calendar, meaning the first day of the month begins during the new moon. Because of this, Chinese New Year falls on different dates each year and the festival is commonly referred to as the “Spring Festival” or the “Lunar New Year”.
This annual celebration occurs between January 21st and February 20th according to Western calendars. Traditionally it lasts for 16 days, starting from Chinese New Year’s Eve and culminating with the Lantern Festival.
