who are Rooftop Film Club?
Rooftop Film Club have venues situated across both the USA and the UK. They are a cinema with a difference. An outdoor film experience complete with comfy deckchairs, wireless headphones and panoramic views.
In partnership with Now TV they screen everything from cult classics to brand new releases. Being able to kick back and enjoy the silver screen underneath the stars is a truly unique movie experience that just can’t be beat.
Stage One: The BRIEF
We were approached by Rooftop Film Club, to provide special entertainment as part of their #SpaceSeries social media campaign. In particular they wanted to celebrate their screening of ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’.
Being a quirky, trendy venue based around film and TV they wanted us to bring something special to the table that would translate easily to social media, creating photo opportunities and ‘Instagrammable’ moments for their guests.
Stage Two: The Venue
The event was to be held at their flagship cinema, perched high above the London skyline, atop Peckham’s iconic Bussey Building. Decked out with a large astroturf seating area, retro Photo Booth, a trendy open air bar and a fully kitted out pizza kitchen the venue offered more than enough scope for interaction with guests.
Our Star Wars characters aimed to take full advantage of this by posing for Rooftop Film Club official publicity photos – serving popcorn, handing out headphone sets, reclining in the deckchairs and more.
Stage Three: Immersive Entertainment
Star Wars has a plethora of deadly mercenaries across the film franchise, however none as iconic as the classic Stormtrooper, and Boba Fett – the galaxy’s most formidable bounty hunter.
Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper patrolled the venue, securing the perimeter and posing for photos. They were on the hunt for members of The Resistance and frequently questioned guests regarding their activities. They ventured through the bar and even found themselves inside the pizza kitchen at one point.
Iconic sci-fi characters brought the cinematic energy to the rooftop film club event. One performer representing the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett in detailed armour. Weathered green plates, a rangefinder helmet, and a gauntlets creating an instantly recognisable silhouette. Tactical belts completed the rugged looking design.
Alongside him stood a classic Imperial Stormtrooper in crisp white armour. Polished chest plates, sculpted helmets, and black under suit formed the distinctive look. Both costumes followed the visual style seen on screen. Guests enjoyed posing for photographs when these characters appeared during the rooftop film club gathering.
Precision crafted helmets, armour panels, and accessories reinforced the appearance. Strong character presence enhances the atmosphere around a rooftop film club setting while maintaining the unmistakable style of these legendary figures.
Stage Four: Bring in the Guests!
Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper were well received by guests on their arrival and before the movie started they thoroughly entertained die hard Star Wars fans and newcomers alike.
As guests settled down to enjoy the feature film they tucked into their popcorn, donned their wireless headphones and delved into 1980’s outer space; underneath the stars surrounded by one of the best views in London …and a Stormtrooper …and Boba Fett.
