Coralea and Stephen’s wedding

A wedding out of this world

Coralea and Stephen reached out to us about incorporating their love of the galactic empire into their Star Wars themed wedding in a very special way.

To make their day extra special and unique the happy couple wanted Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper to watch over them as they said their vows (or as they put it, “pledged their allegiance to the Dark Side”).

Stage One: The Brief

Through our initial conversations with Coralea she told us that together they are huge fans of Star Wars and wanted to tastefully include a Star Wars theme without it dominating the entire day.

This was tastefully done by including Lego Star Wars minifigs (complete with Lego lightsaber) in the design of the buttonholes, as well as Star Wars characters being in attendance as a gentle nod to Star Wars throughout the day.

Stage Two: The Venue

The ceremony took place at Fingask Castle, a rural and romantic wedding venue set in the heart of Scotland. Happily situated in a private glen, it’s half way between Perth & Dundee, an hour from Edinburgh, and Glasgow, and a tad more from Aberdeen and Inverness.

Fingask Castle is home to Scotland’s ‘surrealist garden’, a spectacular collection of bizarre topiary strewn across a lavish lawn …so maybe it wasn’t such a surprise when Darth Vader, or should I say Lord Vader, and one of his trusty Storm Troopers appeared from behind the foliage for an epic showdown and to greet the guests.

Stage Three: The Epic ShowDown

It’s not every day Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper turn up at your wedding, so you know when they do an epic showdown is in order!

Coralea, Stephen, Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper all posed for a mock battle for the cameras which included recreating the iconic lightsaber battle. This greeting was perfectly captured by Kimberly Allan Photography, who even managed to capture the moment Coralia turned the tables on the Storm Trooper by holding him at gun point with his very own blaster!

Stage Four: Love is friendship set to music

Coralea and Stephen are both keen musicians who play with many different outfits, Stephen playing the bagpipes and Coralea playing the violin – and with more than half of their wedding guests being involved in pipe bands and the Scottish Music Parade, not getting on stage on their big day was never going to be an option.

As the newlyweds hit the stage the dance floor soon filled and with that party mode was engaged.

Stage Five: Memories and Moments

Capturing memories and moments is a huge part of getting married so this job had to be entrusted to the perfect videographer. Coralea and Stephen wanted to choose a fellow Star Wars fan to capture these moments, ensuring that their sci-fi vibe was maintained without becoming to overbearing in their wedding video.

To achieve this they brought in Angus based videographer Keiran of ‘I Do Videos’, a Scottish Wedding Videographer of the Year finalist and self confessed Star Wars super-fan who did an excellent job of capturing every moment of their wedding day (and lightsaber battles) on film.

Coralea and Stephen, May the Force be with you as you travel through the galaxy of life!

“Love it! Thank you so much!”
