The Devil went down to Yeovil

What was the event?

Over the years we have been honoured to provide entertainment for many UK military services, from formal ceremony events to lighthearted and well deserved staff parties. The officer’s Halloween Ball for RNAS Yeovilton was a perfect opportunity for us to put on a devilishly good stage show for our hard working troops.

Stage One: The Brief

Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton is located near Yeovil, Somerset and is home to the Royal Navy Wildcat Force and the Commando Helicopter Force. This group of Navy officers wanted a high impact halloween show with a huge fire finale to keep them warm and toasty in their courtyard this October. Their theme was very laid back but they particularly loved our Devil character and were keen to have him hosting and involved in the stage show.

Working to meet their budget we suggested a three person stage show hosted by the Devil, including multi skilled performers offering an action packed twenty minute show.

Stage Two: Time to dress up

The guests all embraced their fun sides and dressed for the occasion, from day of the dead inspired skeleton costumes, to blood spattered surgeons and horror clowns. Suitably attired everyone was in the Halloween spirit and in the mood to party!

With a competition for the best dressed later in the evening everyone was keen to win the prize for best dressed!

Stage Three: Food & Decor

There were fewer tricks than treats at this event though the entrance was cleverly disguised. Guests had to make their way through a spooky graveyard meeting the Grim Reaper, they then visited a haunted crypt before emerging into the main party room.

Here the skull and spiderweb centre pieces perfectly captured the creepy and classy feel for the guests. The clever use of lighting created a moody atmosphere and classic Halloween decorations brought some light hearted fun. The food for the evening was a Mexican banquet- style your own fajitas with a huge selection of fillings, spiced potato wedges, rice and not to mention all the classic dips!  Salsa anyone?

Stage Four: The Devil’s Cabaret!

After dinner it was time to head to the bar for a drink then out into the courtyard. Here the lights dropped, the flame torches were lit and the Devil started the show in flamboyant and dramatic style.

The three performer show was fast paced and featured a wide variety of entertainment- from LED hula hooping to a daring sword balance act, from magical illusions to huge fireballs. The guests were the perfect audience and weren’t afraid to get involved- booing and hissing at the Devil whenever he made an appearance, cheering and clapping and even demanding an encore.

Stage Five: Partying into the Graveyard Hours!

The show was a resounding success and after a few photos and meeting the guests it was time for the performers to leave and the DJ to spin some Halloween hits and get all the partygoers on the dance floor.

The event was a resounding success, our Devil host is unbelievably realistic and adds an edgy, rock and roll vibe to events. Pairing his high impact stage presence with uniquely skilled performers creates the ultimate Halloween show. The Devil show can be tailored with a variety of acts but they are always punchy, choreographed and deliver an exciting energy. We can’t wait to create more fun shows for this amazing client.
